A price you can check before you call
Distance, vehicle and weight decide the cost. Put the two postcodes in and you get a working range with the arithmetic shown, so you can see where the money goes.
What is in the number
- One collection and one delivery
- The vehicle and the driver
- Fuel and insurance
- Proof of delivery
- Waiting up to 15 minutes at each end
What is not
- Waiting beyond 15 minutes, charged by the quarter hour
- Extra drops on the same run
- Tail-lift or a second man, where the load needs it
- Congestion and clean air zones on the route
- Parking and congestion penalties incurred on the drop
Why we do not publish a per-mile card
A per-mile card looks tidy and then doubles once the vehicle, the weight and the return leg are counted. Here is the shape of it instead.
| Service | Starts at | Moves with | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Same day | Call out plus mileage | Distance, vehicle class, weight | One urgent drop, direct |
| Overnight | Lower call out | Distance and weight band | Next morning, not urgent today |
| Pallet | Per pallet plus mileage | Pallet count, tail-lift, access | Bulk, trade, site deliveries |
| Scheduled | Per run | Frequency, window, vehicle | Same route every week |
| International | Per lane | Destination, weight, duty terms | Export, cross-border |
All figures exclude VAT. A quotation is fixed for the job described, not for a range of possible jobs.
The pricing questions, answered plainly
Is the estimate the price I pay?
No. It is a working range built from distance, weight and service. The desk confirms a fixed price for the job, and that is the number on the invoice.
Why is same day so much more than overnight?
Same day means a vehicle and driver are yours for the whole run, including the empty leg back. Overnight shares a network, so you pay for space rather than the whole van.
Do you charge for waiting?
Fifteen minutes at each end is included. After that it is charged by the quarter hour, and the driver will ring the desk rather than let it run silently.
What about congestion and clean air charges?
They are passed through at cost on the routes that have them. They are shown as a separate line, not folded into the mileage.
Can I have a monthly account?
Yes, for regular work. One invoice at month end, with each job listed. Start on card or bank transfer and move to account after the first few runs.
What happens if the delivery fails?
You get a call the same day. We re-deliver, return the goods or hold them, whichever you choose, and the failed attempt is not quietly invoiced as a success.
Do you cover pallets over 1,000 kg?
Not on a standard Luton. Tell us the weight and we will either send a larger vehicle or decline honestly rather than overload a van.
Is there a minimum charge?
Yes. Short local runs still cost a call out, so there is a floor on each service. The estimator applies it, which is why a two mile job does not come back at forty pounds.
